Mission

Lesbian Alliance provides opportunities that nourish connection, communication, and community, supporting the development and well-being of Milwaukee-area women who love women.

Vision

The Lesbian Alliance envisions Milwaukee-area women who love women possessing a sense of belonging. They are valued and appreciated as meaningful contributors to all sectors of the community; they are integral to making things go well in society and they enjoy social equity in access to services and benefits. They know and celebrate their history. Women who love women also enjoy a strong, vital, accepting community across all dimensions of their diversity. They find joy in living healthy, satisfying lives in the context of communities who are comfortable with them.

Values

The Lesbian Alliance is committed to collaboration, communication, community, fairness, and relationships.

Goals

1.    By December 2010, the Lesbian Alliance will earn the enthusiastic recognition by lesbians of all ages as a valued community leader in lesbian issues.

1.1.         Qualified volunteers will develop in partnership with professional and academic support a small series of presentations on the issues of interest about women who love women to be used by a trained speakers' bureau by December 2009.

1.2.         Lesbian Alliance Board and members in partnership with Center Advocates and Fair Wisconsin will support through position papers and organizational endorsements legislation that assures recognition for domestic partnership and protections for gender expression by December 2009.

1.3.         Lesbian Alliance Board and members will produce a series of speak out sessions to garner input and perspectives on recognition for domestic partnership and protections for gender expression by September 2009.

1.4.         Lesbian Alliance Board will survey membership on their interests and their perspectives on the organization's achievements by March 2010.

2.    By December 2010, the Lesbian Alliance will foster community and relationship development among lesbians and their allies through engaging programs.

2.1.         By July 2009, Lesbian Alliance will use ongoing events to make connections among participants through the use of introductions, hosts, name tags and facilitated conversations.

2.2.         Lesbian Alliance Board and membership will co-sponsor and attend an event that hosts the WNBA and an event for the 2009 Softball Tournament in Milwaukee by December 2009.

2.3.         Lesbian Alliance Board and membership will co-sponsor events with Rainbow Families by December 2009.

3.    By December 2010, the Lesbian Alliance will promote leadership through education, recognition, and program implementation.

3.1.         Lesbian Alliance Board and membership will present 2009 community leadership recognition awards at PrideFest at the Stonewall Stage in June 2009.

3.2.         Lesbian Alliance will display past awards at the History Tent at PrideFest in June 2009.

3.3.         Lesbian Alliance will send at least two members to the LGBT Health Conference in Chicago in August 2009.

4.    By December 2010, the Lesbian Alliance will have implemented actions to support a sustainable organizational future for lesbians in Milwaukee.

4.1.         Lesbian Alliance Board will revise accounting systems and implement sustainable bookkeeping process using Quick Books by June 2009.

4.2.         Lesbian Alliance board will conduct and conclude by December 2009 an exploration of feasibility to maintain or sunset its 503.c4 corporation.

4.3.         Lesbian Alliance will revise and update Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws with legal consultation by December 2009.
